Family, friends and fans to celebrate Sound Sultan at New York special tribute

On Saturday, July 24, 2021, Olanrewaju ‘Sound Sultan’ Fasasi will be remembered and celebrated by family, friends, colleagues and fans in the United States at a special tribute event that will be held at Acoustic Garden, Brooklyn, New York.

It has been nearly two weeks since the talented creative tragically died of Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma (AITL) and was buried in Brooklyn, New York.

In honour of his life, family members, friends, and fans will pay their respects to the multitalented creative, who touched countless lives in profound ways, at a tribute event holding simultaneously in four cities – Lagos, London, New York and Atlanta.

The Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive) had announced on Sunday, July 18, 2021, that it is collaborating with The Fasasi family, friends, colleagues and fans of Sound Sultan to host an evening of music, poetry, dance, comedy and talk, in honour and celebration of Sound Sultan on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Terra Kulture, in Lagos.

The tribute event will be live-streamed on Sound Sultan’s YouTube and Facebook page, and Netng will also provide live updates from the event on its website and social media platforms. There will also be live broadcasts on Hip TV.

The event is expected to feature performances from a long list of Sound Sultan’s friends, colleagues, and those who drew inspiration from him. It will elevate his memory and celebrate his life and times as family, fans, and friends will also relive his fond memories.

Since his death on Sunday, July 11, 2021, many friends, fans, and the Nigerian government have paid tribute to the late entertainer, reminding us that his legacy lives on and he would forever be remembered.

Femi Falodun, the CEO of ID Africa, organisers of NECLive, in a statement said, “Sound Sultan’s physical form might have departed the world, but his unique voice, his conscious lyrics, his acts of kindness, his positive message and most of all, the wonderful memories he left us with will live forever in our hearts.”

Sound Sultan’s longtime friend, Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia, MI Abaga, Aramide,  Timi Dakolo, Sage Hasson and Banky W are some of the artistes who have been confirmed for the Lagos tribute event.
