2Baba to Participate in Nigerian Entertainment Conference for the Third Time in 8 Years

2Baba confirmed for NECLive, third time in 8 years

Legendary Nigerian pop singer Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia has been confirmed to be part of the ninth edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive).

2Baba, who shares a long history with NECLive, joins a multinational roster of speakers, panellists and performers that would be interacting with a live audience from around the world at West Africa’s biggest and longest-running entertainment conference, founded in 2013.

In 2016, he was unveiled as the first Nigerian brand ambassador for Campari (an alcoholic liqueur, considered an apéritif, obtained from the infusion of herbs and fruit in alcohol and water) at NECLive 4. Two years before then, 2Baba was a lead speaker at NECLive2.

In his address – ‘Slaying the Collective Rights Monster’, at the second edition of NECLive in 2014, 2Baba harped on how the music industry needs to collectively end the controversy surrounding collecting rights and royalty in Nigeria. In a recent interview with the NECLive team, he also stressed the need for African creatives and entertainers to unite and create a platform that celebrates their work instead of waiting for western validation.

2Baba will join the conversation on ‘Sustaining the Africa Momentum’ at the ninth edition, which will convene Africa’s entertainment and creative industry in person and virtually, on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Landmark Event Centre in Lagos.

In the past week, some of Africa’s most influential entertainment and creative industry leaders and stakeholders like Debo ‘Mr Macaroni’ Adebayo; founder of ChessInSlums, Tunde Onakoya; the Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, Dr Busola Tejumola; Ekiti State Finance Commissioner, Akin Oyebode; Rwandan singer, Aline Gahongayire; Anyiko Owoko from Kenya; TV host and filmmaker, Bolanle Olukanni; Tolulope Adeleru-Balogun of News Central TV; media entrepreneurs, Obi Asika and Ayo Animashaun, among others, have been announced as speakers and panellists for the conference. The Crown Troupe of Africa, led by Segun Adefila and Tena the Violinist, have also been announced as performers while DJ Jimmy Jatt has also been confirmed to provide music support for the conference.

The conference will also be broadcast live on HipTV ((DStv channel 324 and GOtv channel 74) and Nec.ng.
